Overall Design Considerations

Try to design the pieces using bright colors.  Avoid large areas of light color as they can soil quickly.  Darker backgrounds will wear the longest before showing dirt.

Live area is 1" less all the way around mat. Keep all critical graphics and text at least 1" from the edges of the final live area. Because transferring is usually done by hand. Try to stay away from designing even borders close to the edges of the piece. Please allow 1" bleeds on all four sides.  See mat construction for more detailed specs.

File Formats

Vector
Keep vector images clean using bright colors. If the art originates as a vector image, don't convert it to a raster image.  Please save images in eps or AI format.

Raster
Prepare raster images at 200dpi at 100%.  Save as RGB with the profile embedded.  Avoid tightly detailed or drab colored images. The brightest images work best.  Please give us any layered files if you have them.

Layout
You can use Illustrator or layout in Quark versions 3.3 - 6.1 or Indesign versions 1.0 – 2.0
